Going into Hospital?...
Please let Fr. Steve know if you are going into hospital, in order that we can visit and pray.

If going into hospital, please tell the nurses that you would like to see a chaplain, as this is no longer automatic unless it is requested.

Healing Streams Bereavement Group...
The Bereavement Group meets on the second Monday of each month beginning 10am - 11am at Holy Cross Church, 97 Park Road, Timperley.
All are welcome, whether you've been recently bereaved or decades below, irrespective of faith or belief.
This is a support group and not therapy/counselling. The group will have a time when people can either share their story of pain and loss, check in to say how they are feeling or just sit quietly, held by a supportive group of fellow travellers along grief's road.
The session will end with the opportunity to light a candle and we say the Lord's Prayer together. Group members are then welcome to go into our community cafe for refreshments or to seek prayer and anointing in church.
Just turn up and be assured of a warm welcome. For more information contact Fr. Steve
Alpha Course...
Alpha is a great way to discuss questions of life and faith in a friendly environment. It is presented through high quality video presentations with small group discussion.
It's great for people who have gone to church all of their lives, those who have questions and is an excellent pre-confirmation course.

It is a fantastic way to share our faith by coming on the course along with a friend, neighbour or family member. It is life changing!
Cakes and refreshments are served at each session.

The dates are:
11, 18, 25 September
                        2, 9, 16, 23 October
                         Retreat day 18 October
                        Final session 6 November

It will be held again in St. George's Church Hall from 7pm until 8.30pm.

Mother's Union...
As we break summer we have planned a new programme for September 2025 through to July 2026.

The first meeting will be on Wednesday 24th September at 1.30 pm.  As always this will be a service of Holy Eucharist led by Fr Tom.  As it is 40 year since St Andrew’s reopened we have invited our new Diocesan President, Dinah Waller to join us, which she has accepted.

We would like to thank Fr Steve for leading our Deanery Service early in July.  The service was well attended by members and congregation and the amount of £118.25 raised on the collection plate will be sent the Mothers’ Union Charity. AFIA (Away from it all Holidays).  This is a Mothers’ Union Holiday Scheme and is primarily funded by its members to give the opportunity of a break for those who may be experiencing stress or difficulties in their life for whatever reason. Referrals come from Ministers, schools, domestic abuse services and similar recommendations.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the Mothers’ Union Summer of Hope Appeal ‘Sunflower Seeds of Hope’. So far we have raised £111 which will help families as they flee conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) they often leave everything behind.  Everything that is except some bare essentials – seeds. Those seeds are more than survival – they are a sign of faith.  A promise that God has not abandoned them – That hope can still take root. This money will be sent direct to Mothers’ Chester at the beginning of September.

We are again hoping to fill 3 Red Bags of Education for marginalised children in Eastern Europe.  We are asking if anyone can contribute £1 so that we can purchase pencils, rulers, note books etc.  Posters will go up in both churches shortly.

We are continuing with the Knitted Hearts of Love for end of life patients at Wythenshawe Hospital and also new born baby cardigans and blankets for HMP Styal.

Our meetings are open to everyone please come and join us on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 1.30 pm in the Parish Hall.  For further information about Mothers’ Union or any of the above contact Gill Campbell 941 3859 or Hilary Dooley 980 7879.

Jolly Tots...
Our weekly baby/toddler group started meets every Thursday at 10:00 in the Parish Hall.

Everyone is welcome to come along!

It would be good to have some more helpers - ideally enough so people would only be
on the rota every 3 or 4 weeks (unless they wanted to do more).

Please speak with / contact Vivienne Grantham - 07929 031 608 - if you are interested. Thank you.
ECO Tip...
Ditch single-use plastics by using
• a re-usable water bottle
• bamboo cutlery for picnics and
• beeswax food wraps instead of cling film

Conserve water by
• keeping showers to 5 minutes
• collecting shower/tap water when waiting for it to heat up to water pot plants and the garden
• turning the tap OFF when brushing teeth
• repairing dripping taps and
• using a bucket of water and a sponge to wash the car NOT a hosepipe.

Empty blister packs and beauty / healthcare / wellness products

Continue to be recycled in the bins provided by Boots in Altrincham and the retail park. You could also use their app to gain Advantage Card points.
There will be a box in the St David’s Room at Christ Church for EMPTY BLISTER PACKS ONLY.
Easy Fundraising...
You can now help raise money for the mission and ministry of the parish every time you shop online, through Easy Fundraising! We’ve recently set up an account which means by visiting the Easy Fundraising website before you shop online, we will receive a small donation for every purchase made on participating websites.
So if you’re looking to shop online with companies such as Amazon, ebay, John Lewis, M&S and Argos (to name but a few),
  1. First visit www.easyfundraising.org.uk.
  2. Go the box "search for a new cause" and enter the Parish of Timperley Christ Church - this will take you through to the church’s page
  3. Click on 'support this cause' - this will then take you through to a new page and you need to set up your account
  4. Get shopping! For every purchase from supporting retailers, we will receive a donation.
It is a really easy and quick way to raise money for the parish! So spread the word!
Contactless & Connected...
Contactless giving
We’ve now got contactless. Timperley parish can now accept contactless payments. This will be especially helpful at baptisms and weddings but can be used to accept donations. Please see Fr. Steve if you would like to donate by card.
Benedictine Lectio...
The Benedictine Lectio group explores an ancient way of reading scripture.

It is not a Bible study group as such, but a means of reflecting and praying with scripture. You will get to know the Rule of St. Benedict and to pray together as part of a group. The sessions are relaxed and open to all.

The group meets in the St. David’s Room at Christ Church.

Meetings are at 7.30pm on the 1st Monday of each month.

The group concludes with a short service of Compline
Foundations for Ministry...
Foundations for Ministry is a course of learning for anyone who wants to become better equipped to serve God in the world and the church. This is a new, shorter and more accessible version of the Foundations course and works in two blocks of 10 sessions: Together in Christ and Sharing Hope. One of the big changes to Foundations for Ministry is that there’s no longer any requirement to do assessed work to progress from Foundations into any further training or ministry.
You don’t have to have done Block 1 to start Block 2. Email ministry@chester.anglican.org if you would like to get involved.
Foundations for Ministry is a course of learning for anyone who wants to become better equipped to serve God in the world and the church. People join FfM to learn more about a variety of ways to serve God, including:

• Where they are at work, in the family, in the community.
• Roles within the church (children’s work, youth work, music ministry, churchwardens, PCC members; pastoral work, outreach, administrative work and more).
• Ordained ministry.
• Licensed lay ministry (Pastoral Workers, Readers, Parish Nurses, Church Army Evangelists and more).
What will you learn?
FfM is split into two blocks of learning, which follow the themes of the Diocesan Vision, “Together in Christ, Sharing Hope”.
The first block explores what it means to be “Together in Christ”, asking what it means to be the church, and to be disciples of Christ within it. Session titles include:
·        Gathering Day: Making Connections
·        Being the Church
·        Church and Kingdom
·        Being the Church… of England
·        Safer Healthier Church Culture
·        Being rooted: Bible and Prayer
·        Stop, Think and Pray – Faith and Action
·        Everyday Faith: 24-7 Discipleship
·        The What and Why of Ministry
·        Finding Your Way: Calling, Vocation and Guidance
·        Better Together
The second block focuses on “Sharing Hope”, exploring how we can each play our part in the ministry and mission of the church. Session titles include:
·        Gathering Day: Gifts and Unwrapping Yours
·        Growing and Sustaining Ministry
·        Who are the 1.5 Million?
·        Being Church Differently
·        The Five Marks of Mission
·        Tell: Sharing our Faith
·        Teach: Growing Disciples Sharing our Faith
·        Tend: Responding to Human Need
·        Transform: Challenging Unjust Structures
·        Treasure: Caring for Creation
·        Agape Meal

What is involved?
Each block lasts for around 10 weeks. You can do one or both blocks, and if you do both you can do them in any order.
There is also a Saturday gathering of the FfM community to begin each block, joining together people from all the weeknight venues.
Once a year we plan a celebration evening and reunion, where participants can catch up with each other and reflect on their growth in ministry and discipleship.
The evening sessions are usually split into two parts. They begin with opening worship, and a presentation on the theme for the week. The second part of the evening consists of small group time, involving conversation, reflection, practical exercises, personal sharing and prayer.
The small group work is the place where people make some firm friends and learn more about themselves and each other in a supportive and prayerful environment.
There is also the option of around an hour of ‘linkwork’ between sessions. You don’t have to do this, but you will get more out of the group discussions if you do.
Come prepared to be involved! One of the gifts of FfM is the opportunity to share and learn together, and have fun. This is a great opportunity to meet with a diverse group of people, and to learn from and encourage each other.
Course venues, times and cost
Block one runs each autumn term, and block two begins in the New Year. We usually aim to run the course in a number of venues, on different evenings of the week. In 2025/2026 this will be:
Monday evenings                 Ellesmere Port
Tuesday evenings                 Runcorn
Wednesday evenings            Bramhall
There is no cost to participants or parishes: FfM is free at the point of delivery.
How to apply:
For more information, and a link to the online application form, please contact the Ministry Team using the email address below.
Applicants to FfM will need to have a conversation with their incumbent or equivalent (Church Warden, Rural Dean, or similar in a vacancy) to gain their backing. Please email/ arrange a conversation with Fr. Steve in the first instance.
